RUMOR, GAMBLE, PARTY? Here are somethings that I think could happen: Dave will show up and deliver the funniest stand-up act of his career. Hey he has been MIA for a minute, right? He's had time to come up with some make you wanna vomit material.
Another likely scenario is the faux show. Someone comes out from the crowd at 12am and reveals that Dave is on his way and will arrive soon. Crowd gets antsy. Then the real deal is revealed. Ronin Roc is spinning at Tube and you are directed to not pass go and not collect 200$. Go back to Tube. You now have permission to start a spoiled kid riot!
Or the most awesome way things could go. Dave comes out. Dave asks for some real Oregon "kush" or whatever you kids are calling it these days. Dave requests that everyone join him at Silo or Ascension for an all night party.
Who knows what will happen. I suppose I will check Facebook at 12:15am. anyways, I hope it's the first scenario. Have a good night. Tha Digsta!
Word. Hey buddy thanks for coming out to The Fix for the last couple weeks. We've had a good run for a while. The M64 record release party, Diamond D, and our regular nights have been great! Let's keep it moving. Tomorrow night I plan on playing a bunch of stuff to dance to like these ::
And here are some free mp3's from one of my favorite labels out of Canada, Home Breakin' Happy Canada Day to all you Canadians!
If that's your ticket or your bag, come out, if not, stay at home, buster!
And now here's our new segment... Random design topics: You might be seeing more of this in the future. I really kind of like this typeface. Klimax taa daa
meanwhile,
ok here's the real reason why I am posting. It's our independence day and that's pretty important. We could have ended up like Taiwan or India. We're not. We're rad and we're Americans. With freedom. . . to be stupid.
This is kinda cool, actually it ended up in our spam box "Singer / Songwriter / Rapper - Epic / Sony recording artist Jovi Rockwell from Kingston, Jamaica. Featured on Diplo's 'Major Lazer' album (Cant Stop Now) & also working w/ Ne-Yo, Akon, The Heavyweights, Mr Vegas, Sly & Robbie, etc... Peep the "Rizzla" video below & also mp3 from "Cant Stop Now" from Diplo & Switch's Major Lazer album. If you like it hopefully you can post on your blog / site. "
other shit from kingston:: Ohmega Watts, kinda... anyways,
The Official release party is this Thursday. The party features Record Breakin' Label owner DJ JUNIOR!
They put out a lot of cool 7"s. check them out!
Here's some other work that Ragen has done with Raashan Ahmad. Pretty dope. It still amazes me when I hear such dope music coming out of Portland! Support your city!
sincerely, Tha Digsta
PS. Somebody forgot to drop the Fix logo into the flyer! hahah.
enjoy those, I might drop a set of deez tomorrow night at Diamond D, but I might try to play some classics as well. Get yer butt down there foo! Sincerely, Tha Digsta!
Hey there guy! You know when you have an insatiable hunger for any kind of sushi that includes salmon and a love for japanese wrestling you belong in belong in Tokyo!
Banksy vs. Bristol Museum! This is art! Art = what you make it. You make art?
Make sure to check out Slumfunk, the internet home of Portland's own Libretto. He is offering free mp3s and more. His site will help you with post Laker championship win riot code protocols, keeping up with the infamous Misfit Massive Crew, and a steady flow of hiphop banter. In my opinion, Libretto belongs to the elite group of top 5 emcees in Portland. After mixtapes like Kokanut Brown Visits the Donut Shop and albums like Ill-oet you can only expect ill shit. And when it is coming you will know because you will already be on his site waiting for it.
After you check that stuff out remember to mark your calendars for this Thursday. We are having Diamond D of DITC. Last reminder.
Hey if you are into A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, or any other 90s hiphop you are going to really enjoy this Thursday. Get off your bum and get movin for the best kept secret!
Norway's own Fred Fades, producer and dj. Getting mad love ~here~
And from the end of that interview:: "By the way, tell people to check out our (me and DonMartin’s) radio show “Goodshit Radio” on www.goodshitradio.com. It’s a live Norwegian Hip Hop Radio Show and club concept. We’re also running a podcast that includes all shows plus bonus stuff. More info on the site!
I said Hey! (Hey!) Daedelus is gonna be at Doug Fir June 17 with Ghislain Poirier ~ I think they are asleep at the wheel over there at DG cuz there were mad typos in their calendar, whoops!
Chris Craft of Shaman Work has been busy producing some new beats. Illy Check them out here!
today I heard a cool little gem on pandora(the way i get through the day without blowing my head off) Here we have Natalie Imbruglia, most known for her 90s hit, which is why I recognized her name::
I know pretty bad, corny, at this point ironically funny, 90s, I could go on forever. But when I heard this I was stoked.
another tune that came up was this, which is apparently a Royksopp remix. That bass pluck did sound familiar...
and to round out this segment a jam that makes me get buck in my chair, didn't get played today but I wish it would have. This is my shit!
And just a heads up this week The Fix is free! And What's Good is on Friday at Rotture. That's starring Rev Shines, Evil One, and special guest Doctor Adam. Crazy week next week The Fix is 5 bux. You wanna see Diamond D, right? June 18th Diamond D of DITC is dropping an ill set. I have no idea what he is gonna play, but it's gonna be a sureshot. Then June 19th is Rockbox Dance Party, which should be your go to once a month for bunyuns, blisters and broken ankles. Get yer dance on gurls! And to round out what is going to be a bonkers week(next week) Krames is gonna be at Rotture June 20th! I get to do an opening set. I am really stoked because he is dope. He put a record at the end of last year that was the electro version of "Sound of the Police". HIPHOP+ELECTRO unite to form Voltron up in this ... word see ya soon, Sincerely, Tha Digsta
PS:: They homie Brazil, from Gainesville and CEO of Organik Recordings, recorded a mix a classic soul mix for a March of Dimes event out there. It has nothing but the jams(ie Al Green, Bill Withers, Marvin Gay, Isley Bros, Charles Wright, Stevie Wonder, etc) So if that's your steez...peep this out. On a side note I redesigned their logo last year, tell me what you think.
